Quran Competition 2026

Presented by Jamia tul Muntazir · Honouring Imam Zain ul Abideen (AS)

Named in honour of
Imam Zain ul Abideen (as)

This competition honours the profound bond that Imam Zain ul-Abideen (as) had with the Holy Qur’an. He found companionship in its verses, saying that even if all the people of the world were gone, he would not feel lonely as long as the Qur’an was with him.

His recitation was so beautiful that water carriers would stop outside his home just to listen. He reminded us that the verses of the Qur’an are treasures to be reflected upon carefully and deeply.

Through this competition, we aim to honour his connection with the Qur’an and encourage our community especially children and young people to recite, memorise, and reflect on its teachings throughout the year, not only in Ramadan.

Join us on 26th April 2026. Limited spaces available. Register by 16th April 2026.

Choose Your Category

There are four categories, each testing various skills in relation to the Qur’an. We have created an information pack which includes:

  • Full explanation of each category
  • Age-specific competition requirements
  • Judging criteria
  • Resources for preparation

Memorisation

Memorise selected surahs or verses from the Qur’an and recite them from a point chosen by the judges. This category celebrates dedication, heart, and the joy of carrying the Qur’an within you.

Recitation

Recite a passage from the Qur’an with correct tajweed, proper pronunciation, fluency, and clarity. Both Tarteel and Tahqeeq styles are welcomed and judged on their own terms.

Understanding

Present a short explanation of selected Qur’anic verses — their meaning, context, and the lessons they hold for us today.

Art Inspired by Qur'an

Create a piece of artwork inspired by a Qur’anic verse and submit a short written explanation of its meaning. All artistic mediums are encouraged — paint, drawing, calligraphy, and more.
